'We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges'

Some pretty bogus news: Bill & Ted 3 isn’t actually a done deal.
Despite the project seemingly being confirmed by stars Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves, with producers unveiling the project at the Cannes Film Festival, Reeves himself has now suggested production roadblocks are in danger of throwing the whole thing off course.
“I don’t know if it’s a reality,” he told Yahoo Entertainment. “We’ve been trying for a long time to get that film made, and it still has its challenges.”
He didn’t go into detail about what exactly those challenges were, lumping them into “show business stuff ― financing, rights, deals. Nothing creatively.”
However, Reeves is still optimistic about the sequel’s future, adding: “I really love the characters, and I think we have a good story to tell.”
He’s also keen to revisit the character of Ted “Theodore” Logan. “It’ll be interesting to see what that’s like,” he said. “There’d be a lot about him that would be the same, I’m sure; his kind of optimistic naïveté in the face of the darkness will still be there. He has a child now, so I’m sure he’s matured.”
